Abrasive grain\uff08<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newregiston.co.jp\/p_info\/kiso\/kiso03\/\">Basic Knowledge of Grinding Wheel \u2162<\/a>\uff09<\/h3>\r\n<p>The two abrasive materials most commonly used nowadays are aluminum oxide and silicon carbide.<\/p>\r\n<p>The following helps select the wheel which is suitable for materials of workpiece and grinding condition.<\/p>\r\n<h3 id=\"k25\">5. Grit\uff08<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newregiston.co.jp\/p_info\/kiso\/kiso03\/\">Basic Knowledge of Grinding Wheel \u2162<\/a>\uff09<\/h3>\r\n<p>Grit is determined by a screening process on the number of holes per square inch in the screen. The higher the number,the finer the abrasives.<\/p>\r\n<h3 id=\"k26\">6. Grade<\/h3>\r\n<p>This letter denotes the hardness of the grinding wheel.<\/p>\r\n<p>The letters A to Z characterises the degree of hardness with A referring to the softest and Z as the hardest.<\/p>\r\n<p>For grinding hard materials, a soft wheel and for grinding soft material, a hard wheel is chosen.<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"494\" height=\"233\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2514\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newregiston.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/grade.gif\" \/><\/p>\r\n<h3 id=\"k27\">7. Structure<\/h3>\r\n<p>The porosity determines the percentage of bulk volume of pores in unit volume of grinding wheel, there are wheels of open and close porosity. Bond\uff08<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newregiston.co.jp\/p_info\/kiso\/kiso04\/\">Basic Knowledge of Grinding Wheel \u2163<\/a>\uff09<\/h3>\r\n<p>Bond is the material holding abrasives together and is usually either &#8216;V&#8217; (Vitrified) or &#8216;B&#8217; (Resinoid).<\/p>\r\n<h3 id=\"k29\">9. Classified code<\/h3>\r\n<p>Each manufacturer classifies the bond into the several types according to the application and use own classified code for products.<\/p>\r\n<h3 id=\"k30\">10.
